Casting Instruction on the Eden

Casting Instruction on the Eden

As part of the casting development we have been doing with Mike Roden a small group of our more intrepid members went to the Eden on Sunday 22nd May.  We travelled more in hope than expectation, planning to practice some water casts and then fish.  Although early signs where encouraging when we did get to the river, the river was up, the wind was up, it rained on and off and the water was very coloured.  Nothing daunted Mike demonstrated the key cast required for the river and we discussed some options on leader construction.

Deciding, as conditions worsened, that we were not going to be able to fish with any real chance of catching, we returned to Kirkby Stephens to find a sheltered spot and practice.

Finally the heavens opened but fortunately so did the Kings Arms and we needed no persuading to go for a pint.
