A good number of us turned out despite the predicted threat of rain later on in the day. We reached the river in glorious sunshine that complemented the beautiful surroundings perfectly.
Stretched out along the lower beat with no signs of rising fish we searched the river with techniques from deep to nymphing to spiders. Eventually some of us took a few fish. As the morning progressed the odd small hatch hear and there did bring on a few rising fish. Just after lunch the heavens opened and the rain set in for the afternoon
Some of the the softer members, (including myself) made a hasty retreat back to the Aspinal Arms. The pub was having a beer festival with some great beers that just had to be tried!
